Illustrates how far removed even 'wild' street engines are compared with a real state of the art WRC race-prepped rally engine. Thanks for posting.

you know I just read it again and its even better the second time. BTW what does it mean to bespoke something? how do you sodium cool something? For street application is water injection or a water sprayed intercooler better? Where can I get one of those anti lag systems for my car? Was it me or did they say 4 bar (58 psi) of boost?

You don't want an anti-lag system in a street car. Its usually only meant for race cars, because its built only to last for 10k-20k miles (or so) and takes the motor with it. Enough to finish a few races, but not really something you want on a daily driver.

For daily street driven cars, I'd probably say that a water spray on the intercooler is 'better' then a water (or alcohol) injection. Its cheaper, and you will probably get the same results.

And yeah, 4 bar of boost. Wow, just wow.

"Bespoke" means one of a kind, one-off, or very special, built for only that purpose.

Sodium cooled valves are filled with a sodium compound. Not sure of the chemical characteristics that allow the cooling properties. Any chemists out there??

Water spray is not as critical on the street, although STi's have it. While I've not experienced it in an STi, I think that it is most important and noticable when you have a engine that pushes the limits of boost and you need the coolest charge possible.

I would'nt try and get an anti-lag system for a street car... you're better off going to a smaller turbo than trying to develop an anti lag system. Just think of what the electronics cost Prodrive for that system.

4 Bar of boost, that IS sick. I don't know if you are a fan, but if you remember the old F1 cars from the Turbo era, those cars were running upwards of 75psi of boost on 1.5 liter engines. They made anywhere from 800-1500 hp depending on the boost levels, of course. Made for some pretty spectacular grenades!
