I got a 98 Impreza RS 2.5 last July and I was wondering if anyone could suggest a place to get good/reliable, regular maintenece work done on it in the Boulder/Denver area?
So far, I absolutely LOVE this car and want to keep it in good shape. I got it with only 36,000 miles on it but I commute 60 miles (round trip) every day so the number is rising fairly quickly.
(have to admit, I do suffer from a bit of WRX envy, esp seeing the new STi.... WOW!!!!.... maybe NEXT time...)
Hello, I know a mechanic that is a very good and is not too expensive. His shop is called Mobile Mechanics, his name is Buddy and he is a Subaru Specialist. He is on West Colfax across from Planet Hyundai just west of i-70.

Have to go the other way on that one. I took my car in cuz the turbo was sounding wiered, they told me that it was from a boost hose for my gauge. Then handed me a bill because they felt it was from an aftermarket part. They said they put it on the lift and when he held down the hose and reved the engine the nosie was gone. Only thing is, unless they are so dumb that they put the car in gear on the lift, it wasn't building boost. So the nosie wouldn't be there anyways. Thats just my 2 cents on them, sorry it is not what you guys wanted to hear.
Thanks for all of your input. Like I said, I'm pretty new to Subaru (last July) and unfort. I don't have very much mechanical knowledge. All I know is that I've heard too many horror stories about place like Jiffy Lube etc... and that I'd rather not go ther for simple/routine maintenance stuff.... and I really want to keep this baby in good shape.
BTW - what do you think the best first mod for the least amount of $ on a 98 2.5RS? Sounds like the only way to really boost performance is to add a turbo or swap enigines but I don't think I'll be getting that drastic anytime soon....I have noticed my brakes ar just beginning to squeak a tiny bit at really low speeds....
WickedRydax- I'd like to comment on your post because i work next to the tech who performed the diagnostics on your car. The tech spent three hours narrowing down the problem to the brass fitting for the aftermarket boost gauge you installed. He only charged you for a fraction of the time he spent, trying to build good customer relations. Then you got upset at the desk, so the shop ate the bill (you paid nothing). Now, you post that he is dumb and imply that you were treated unfairly. I feel that you were treated with respect and treated more than fairly considering that the problem was caused by you. We attempt to give the best service possible even under extreme circumstances. It's frustrating when people try to run us through the mud. Situations such as this make us question why we even bother with the performance end of the business. Thankfully, most of our customers work with us (not against us). If you'd like to speak to me personally, feel free to call me at work.
RogersWRX-i replied to your post on the other board on the install price. As for Silver Star, the owner is a very close friend of mine and a great tech. Although, he's not real performance oriented. I'm sure he'd give you a quote on installs if you'd like. Let me know if i can help with anything else.

Well I'm sorry, but if you wanted me to pay for it atleast fix it, I would have paid for it then, it didn't get fixed. For me paying for them to find the problem and not fix it is dumb. For people to tell e your guys are the most mod friendly dealer arounds isn't what I have gotten from you guys. Like I said before if it had been fixed I would have paid for it, but it wasn't so to me thats not good service, not worth paying for.
Perhaps if you'd work with us and not get upset the problem would be resolved. Of course, be mod friendly doesn't mean giving away free work. After telling you what was found and that it wouldn't be warrranty you obviously didn't want it fixed unless you expect the work for free. We were kind enough to tell you where the problem was at no cost to you. Other dealers wouldn't have even looed at your car. Continuing to try to run Flatirons through the mud doesn't help your case.
Has anyone had any experience with a body shop in the Denver/Boulder area? I unfortunately sideswiped the passenger side my WRX on a guardrail outside of Boulder. Having never had to go to a body shop in Colorado, I am feeling a little lost and do not just want to follow the suggestion of my insurance company. If anyone has any suggestions or experiences with a shop please feel free to let me know.
