Roof Ventilator

I am interested in getting a roof ventilator... I just really like how they look. However Im not real sure I want a hole in my roof. Anyone done this mod that can give me the pros and cons. How about a good site for the kit.

I have not done this mod, but I can tell you that the downside is that it is very coastly and has the possibility of weakening the cars frame.

If you're talking about a simple roof scoop like the one primitive sells, its simply a matter of cutting and mounting. Its a bit more work if you want it water proof but its definetely not a hard job or very costly. However the vent that is available on STi's is a bit more expensive and harder to find. Either way, neither will effect the strength of your frame very much.

I definatley want it to be waterproof, I saw the STI kit for 525$ didn't know if someone new of a better price. I hold both the notes on my cars so i'm willing to spend some extra cash for the quality.
I want to be able to open and close the vent, is that possible?

I have the FHI roof vent sitting in my living room. It's from STi-typeRA.
I still haven't installed it because I'm not sure how to cut the roof clean. What's a good tool to cut the roof and the roof liner?
I'm thinking about using jigsaw or dremel grinder wheel.

It has thick rubber seal so I'm sure it is water tight. There is a warning label on it and it says don't use it over 80km/h (about 50mph).

If it were me I would have it professionally installed, that’s something you don’t want to mess up I would think. On the other hand do you really want to install something that has a restriction on it, as in speed? Do you do a lot of freeway driving? That might be a problem also do you plan to take the car to the track? I’m sure you will exceed the 50-mile an hour restriction at the track. Good luck with whatever you decide

Question

I think it is dont use as in dont have open above 50 mph, rally cars definately travel above 50 and, I've sited them on other cars that definately go above 50.
Also there is no way I would do that mod myself.

the roof scoop from a rally car is different then the vent from the sti. the sti is more or less a flap that you lift up and down, so using it at high speeds may cause too much force on the flap and rip the support thing holding it off.

but i do agree that it means dont open it above 50mph.

I want one of those mini pop up moon roofs on the old rex's. Those look awsome.
