Angry Removal of Wagon Tail lights

Has anyone encountered a problem with removing the 02 Impreza Wagon tail lamps? There are two plastic Phillips Screws that secure a "cover" over the actual tailight bolts. These screws seem to either strip out immediately or they won't unscrew at all. Any trick to removing them?

They are those plastic type of screws, more of a holder that a screw per se. The pressure you need to put on it to unscrew, pushes it back in LOL. Stick your finger nail (like I did) under it as you turn the screwdriver, this way you can pull it up as you turn. Also don't push too hard.

That was it. Thanks. Had to use a knife tip to pop the screw up. Unbelieveable....
