Thumbs up

meh, i lived in Chicago for 5 years. They had White Castle...and while they're somewhat tasty, the meal experience there was "Inexpensive" in all senses of the word. Maybe college lifestyle, it would totally appeal to me but when I eat food, i want to ENJOY my food.

In N Out, both the ambiance and especially the food, win hands down. The burger taste (yes there are vegetables on the burger) is much better.

If I'm gonna say what was a better burger chain out in the MidWest, it was Steak N' Shake. THAT was hella better than White Castle.

There is an In N Out in the parking lot where I leave my car at school. I'm in school 4 days a week. I go to In N Out 3-4 times a week. I don't even have to order any more, they see my car pull up on the security camera and start my order. 5x5 with grilled onion and no lettuce, and a small dr pepper. Unless I'm getting ready for a physically difficult class, then I get a large chocolate shake.

White Castle just can't compare.

There used to be one in Anaheim when I was growing up. I've eaten there and varios joints in the east.

I say neither is better than the other. They're completely different and can't even really be compared.

5 guys is better than In N Out. More customization, more sauces, better fries, more messy and delicious!

Unfortunately they are not in California.

I used to really dislike the fries at In N Out, but they have grown on me and I can eat them like nothing! Just add ketchup and you're golden,
Back in the olden days (when I lived in SoCal), the Subaru group had a meet and a 4x4 challenge at an In-n-Out. I ate TWO of them, along with the fries and soda.

3x3 would be a warm up, and two would be a decent meal, but three would be a real meal.

they let you get a 5x5...? Since the biggest they will make is a 4x4.

Also in n out is better IMO but i did work there for 6 months until i got fat so i could be biased.

They also treat their employees pretty well. If they raise the prices if the food they also give all the employees a raise as well and they start you at 10$~ an hour and the people who cook the burgers make 15~ depending on your area.

Also, if you guys want to know the "secret menu" i can tell you everything the can do. Everything from hot chilies on your burger to neoplotian shakes and even what the spread is made out of.

I wouldn't be surprised if they started to limit it to the 4x4 nowadays, but I know back in the day you could order as many as you wanted. I had a friends get 5x5 and 6x6s before, and there are people on the internet that have ordered 20x20s.

Well when i worked there in fall of 06-07 they didn't make anything bigger than a 4x4 since some anti-meat group bought enough 8x8 and a 4x4 to make a 100x100 as a smear camping against them. The largest burger that the register screen would allow you to order is a 4x4 then but you could add additional patties and cheese, but the managers would be all pissed and keep you from doing it.

When I went to New York for vacation I hads some White Castle for the hype just to go. It was alright but best place to get food when you are tight with money. In and Out just taste better to me. That why when I got back home from New York the first thing I got for myself was number 1 animal style.
