LIC 30K Service
Just moved into town from the east coast and my car hit 30k recently. I didn't want to take it to the stealership and I didn't want just anyone working on my car. After some research, I went with LIC and although those guys are 45 minutes away from where I live, they have earned my business for as long as I stay in the Bay Area.
First off, I had to hang around the shop since my wife was busy which I was kind of dreading. I brought a book but ended up not reading it as they let me sit in the shop (off to the side) and watch them work and shoot the **** with them the whole time. They even showed me a great breakfast joint (Marvin's) when I first got there which had some fantastic food.
Anyways, I get back from breakfast and my car is already on the lift and the wheels are already off. Kevin informs me I have a nail in one of my rear tires and has that sent off to the local tire place to have it plugged. Also, I was worried that I would need new tires soon but he informs me that I have a wierd wear pattern on all my tires but I have plenty of tread left and won't need them replaced for a little while (definitely wouldn't have gotten this answer at a dealership). The rest of the service was done very professionally and these guys were having fun doing it. Extra radiator fluid was washed with water (BTW Kevin, sorry my car decided to diarhea radiator fluid on your face), excess brake fluid was cleaned immediately, they flushed the brakes instead of just topping it off, and they took extra good care of my blinged out SSR's. They even checked the SPARE tire and found that it was 1/2 the pressure it should have been and fixed that. I couldn't believe the level of service, the attention to detail, and depth of knowledge these guys had on Subaru's. I was completely worried moving here since I can no longer work on my car in my new apartments but I'm completely relieved there is a trustworthy shop around that will take better care of my car then myself. (Okay these guys seriously owe me a big discount next time for all this sucking up )
When I finished the service ($350), I went to the Smog Inspection only shop literally around the corner and the kid there took good care of me as well. I was worried I wouldn't pass with my mods but I passed with flying colors (TXS Stealthback with Stromung axleback, Accessport set to 91 Stage II). In fact, it wasn't even close. I did drive around the block a few times in 1st gear before I took it in. I then went straight to the DMV about 8 blocks away and got my car registered. Couldn't believe I got all this done and I have to thank all the guys at LIC: Kevin, Adam, Dave, and Noah for letting me hang around and bother you guys all day and teaching me a thing or two about my car. See you next time.
Cliff: Got awesome 30K service at LIC, Kevin got golden shower when replacing radiator fluid, passed smog inspections with Stage II, and got car registered in state of CA

I don't know why you are apologizing about the golden shower.. kevin is a hippie and likes to recycle as much as possible. See you think it's an accident that your car did that. Those guys know way to much to slip like that. Kevin doesn't like to use water and was trying to take another shower on the job. Adam has yelled at him many times for this "accident".

I got my 2005 STi serviced by LIC in April of this year. Not only do they really know their stuff (the tranny fluid they recommended made a huge difference), but they definitely go the extra mile and fix minor stuff that I didn't even bring the car in for. They also found a leak in my CV boot and sent me away with the information I needed to get it covered under warranty at Livermore Subaru.
Even though it's a really long drive for me (160 miles roundtrip), it was definitely worth the extra time and effort getting the car up there. Another +1 for LIC.

I'm not sure about LIC, I mean all they ever provide is great service. All they ever do is teach me things about my suby, and suggest the right upgrades suitable for my driving needs. They never overcharge me. And when emergencies come up they help resolve the problem, I mean, what's up with that? The only good thing is that they are just under an hour away.
nuff said, I done with them
jawfxr, welcome to the B.A. and glad you had a great experience. You've been LIC'd!
