Its not the culture, its more the leadership. It has been ****ed up for a very long time and untill something changes things will either get worse or slowly get better. Still don't understand why we don't try and get them up to speed. It would only help us out since they are our first or second largest trading partner in the world.

WTF!?!

It's the US's responsibility to shape up Mexico's gov't?

Edward Abbey had a great suggestion: "I'd hand every illegal a rifle and 200 rounds of ammo, turn them around, and have 'em finish the Revolution."

Yes, but the cause is substantially cultural when the people don't take a stand. From my perspective, it seems many Mexicans have little patriotism and would gladly go to America to live in-stead.

What makes America better other than welfare and jobs? Culture.

Wow, I agree with you on something, kinda. Creating a better Mexico would be key in solving our little immigration debauckle.

No its not our "responsibility" but it would help us out a lot more than anyother sugestions I have heard. If they become stable and their economy grows we benefit two folds. They buy more of our stuff and they stop wanting to come here as much.

I disagree, they are dirt poor, the difference between those in power and those that are not is HUGE. It would take something major for them to get the will to fight back. They have been trodden on for years now. Mexicans actually have a lot of pride in their country. They just come here to work because they can't find jobs in Mexico. No one wants to leave their home and families to come to the US because of the culture.

Huh? Culture describes the characteristic of a population that would rather support the status quo by illegally coming to the U.S. rather than coming together and fixing Mexico.

Mexico is NOT a poor nation. Mexico is RICH in natural resources, labor, tourism, etc. Mexicans need to come together an fix the freaking country, but that takes the right CULTURE that they lack.

What are you talking about. Again they have a HUGE poverty level, this isn't because of the culture. It is because of the curruption at the top. The rich wanting to stay rich and all that jazz. Mexican's are actually very hard working people but when they have no shot at making it in their home country they leave, like most sane individuals do. Mexico has a lot of issues but saying its because of their culture is retarded. Thats like asking what is the American culture. Please describe it in length.

So are you suggesting forced regime change, or would you have the people take charge and stand up for themselves?

American culture is a culmination of what it took to create a system in which everybody has opportunity to succeed, though today our culture is much weaker than what it was 50 or 100 years ago. People didn't expect any handouts, and they got by through hard work, not the "easy road" today where someone gets a 4 year degree and hides out in a corporation his whole life.... I mean sweating in a factory, having a home, supporting a family, etc.. but nothing fancy. People were a bit more moral, more faithful, more patriotic, and had less feelings of entitlement.
If somebody was screwing the public, people got together and did something about it. Just look at the history of our nation... we never put up with crap for long.

I seriously think the Mexicans lack the ***** to overthrow their government and/or take care of themselves, and that an un-American trait.

Is this really about criminals though? If the borders are closed, dont you think that criminals would be able to find a more illicit way of getting into the country? Come on, people.

Maybe, but if we expelled the 15 million illegals why not actually make it difficult for them to get back into the country?
