Yes. First one of the semester.
Student wanders slowly past my door, looking in appearing a bit lost. Same student, same lost look, wanders back the opposite direction. Same student, again still looking lost, walks slowly up to my door.
Student: "Is Dr. Moss here?"
Me: "He is not."
S: *pointing to a pair of shoes under Dr. Moss' desk* "But.. his shoes are here."
Me: "His shoes are here, but Dr. Moss is not."
S: "Why would his shoes be here, but not him?"
Me: "I imagine Dr. Moss owns more than one pair of shoes."
S: "Oh riiiiight. Do you know if he is in today?"
Me: *looking back down at my reading* "He is not. Just his shoes."
