The stupidity here has hit a new high (low?). There are dumb ideas, then there are the two proposals put forth today at our staff meeting.
First, start tracking the routine work we do as to "get credit" for work we do that doesn't, for reason, show up on the usual metrics report--this one takes a little background in what we do to truly appreciate the asininity of the proposal. Long story short, they want to prove they're "doing something" even though they never really produce.
Second, hire student assistants to do the "typing" in Word because one person, the individual who brought the proposal to the table, doesn't know how to use Word very well and it was taking them "hours to correct font and formatting issues" on a 4-6 page document that was created from a template.
The cherry on this **** sundae of ineptitude: the same rocket scientist proposed both initiatives.
I'm usually the one to address the finer points of some of these ideas and how they can be.. "improved", and I'm oft labelled the "bad guy" for it. I don't care. If an idea is trivial or paltry, I will let you know, but they were so many people jumping on the gang bang for the second idea that I didn't need to say a word. It was glorious.
