Shop Recommendation to Mount/Balance Tires
Hey Sactown iclubbers!
So my tires that I have on my car now are getting pretty bald on the shoulders after 40k miles of use and one of them in particular is pretty bad so I just bought some Hankook Evo1's from TireRack since they are on closeout ($80/tire - $70 with the $40 Hankook rebate )
Are there any shops in particular anyone would recommend to have my tires mounted and balanced at? I called the BigO Tires in EDH since their shop is convenient as I can drop the car off there and walk up the hill to work, but they quoted me $128 to mount and balance. Seems a bit pricey - does anyone else have suggestions?
Also, my wheels are plastidipped - will that basically get destroyed and peeled off on the edges when they remove the old tires and mount new ones? I was thinking of changing things up soon anyway with maybe a different color so it wouldn't be the end of the world if I had to remove the plastidip - was just wondering.

Well, I live in East Sac right now so down the hill wouldn't be a problem - I just work in EDH so that BigO is convenient. My wife and I will be closing on our house in Fair Oaks next week so ... I'll be all over the place. Basically anywhere along the 50 corridor would work.

I use a place called "the tire dealer" in old fair oaks - used to be 60, now charges 80. Never had a mark or a ding, but can't say for plastidip.
When in doubt, call Radial Tire on Cottage over by Arden - I think last time they were 80-100, and they have always been stellar.

Allrighty - the tires came in yesterday and I'll be going by Radial Tires on Monday morning to get them mounted/balanced. Their quote over the phone was $15/tire and $15 disposal fee for the old tires. Much better than $128 at BigO here in EDH. Thanks for the hookup Sybir!

Ha, I can believe that. My last experience with them wasn't amazing. I had an alingment done there a couple months ago to combat my tire wear problems since I hadn't had one done since my lowering springs properly settled. There was 1 guy in particular who kept trying to charge me the 'Euro alignment' amount instead of the cheaper cost for a Japanese car. Even after the whole 'yes it's a Saab built by Subaru in Japan with all WRX wagon parts' elevator pitch I've become accustomed to telling, he still didn't understand that my car is mechanically a Subaru. Idiots. I'm glad I'm taking it somewhere else.

Got the tires installed this morning. Thanks again for the recommendation! Helped me save $60 compared to BigLame tires. Mounting and balancing my tires was just $64 at Radial Tire since I kept two of my old tires. Nice guys at the shop and they were digging my Saabaru badges on the centercaps. haha. Will definitely be going back there in the future
