Point of interest: the first two times I had been to a ski resort ever, and the subsequent third visit to a resort and first as a "rider" were to to Northstar. I remember thinking to myself, "Wow. The stereotypes of skiers and snowboarders being snobbish, self-absorbed elitist *******s are .. well.. true." The other visitors and staff, as soon as they can tell that you are a novice rider/skier, instantly treat you as though you have leprosy and are wasting THEIR oxygen by being there. Even on the first two trips where I was just hanging out in the lodge, I definitely got the feeling of not just being not welcome, but even not wanted.
So I was shocked when I started going to other resorts (Homewood, Sierra, Boreal, etc.) and discovering that not all resorts are like that. In fact, none of the other resorts are like Northstar.
Going on almost 10 years and haven't been back to Northstar. **** that place.

I will not attend any Vail Resorts after reading this.
After Being Violently Assaulted In Front of My 9 Year-Old at Northstar - a Vail Resorts Property - Northstar/Vail Resorts Protected The Man Who Attacked Me and Punished Me For "Causing" His Behavior - Shred Mom
After Being Violently Assaulted In Front of My 9 Year-Old at Northstar - a Vail Resorts Property - Northstar/Vail Resorts Protected The Man Who Attacked Me and Punished Me For "Causing" His Behavior - Shred Mom
The plot thickens. He said, she said?
I can see it going something like this:
Mom perceives potential danger from some meathead snowboarder bombing down the mountain to her sweet, innocent baby boy who wants nothing in this world more than to snowboard. Mom confronts said meathead, with some form physical altercation ensuing with mom, undoubtedly enraged and talking all kinds of unholiness, swinging first firing up Mr. Meathead. Meathead, responding to the attack, struck back and the self-proclaimed 5-foot-2 woman "carrying a big filming camera and wearing a large backpack" lost her balance and fell to the ground. Resort and security personnel respond separating the two. Meathead fired up and talking ****, mom fired up and talking ****. Resort and security personnel threaten to contact the authorities unless they both leave. Both get tossed and passes pulled.
Three sides to every story: her side, his side, the truth.
She probably swung first. Was she right? No.
Meathead probably swung back. Was he right? No.
It fits in with her "side" and the resort's response.
I do find it interesting that the resort called her out, by name, yet only referred to the meathead as the "other guest".
Whatever. Helicopter parent versus Sasquatch of a snowboarder. Neither one out of the ordinary.
No skin off my nose since I don't care for Northstar.
