I was going back and forth between that and a set of alien bees. I forget what it was that helped me make my decision, but I think the Flashpoints were inconsistent with light output and color. I'm happy with the Alien Bees, but that is a worthless opinion because I don't have much experience with anything else.

I'll try to dig up what made me make up my mind. I have a feeling overall quality (both units are made in China, so "build quality" is relative) and customer service.

Interesting. The only shoot I've noticed shifting color on was the bridal one, and I chalked that up to the constantly changing "white" of the different dresses. The only time I've noticed the magenta issue was the above self-portrait. Both times I failed to set a white balance before shooting

You have to keep the power setting up. The higher the better
