WTB: beginner sports bike

WTB:sports bike
I have been riding for some time now and i would like to see what everyone has to offer!
I ride mostly Harley and dirt bikes but would like to get out there with a sports bike! i love the comfort of a Harley but now i want something that can handle a little better.
Im not looking for speed! im not out to race or anything but something that has a little power and i can enjoy the ride maybe go through a few mountain roads. Also the gas mileage as everyone here owning a subaru is very familiar with!!!
so anyways im looking for something stylish but not too much! im thinking in the realm of:
2008+ ninja 250r
CBR 250r
something around this sort...
i wouldnt like to spend more than 2500 preferably cheaper but i know that may not happen...
if you guys/gals know anyone or have any recommendations on bikes of any sort then lmk!
Thank you-
Trevor

I have a friend selling a custom painted 01 GSXR 750 for 3k. Its might be more bike than your looking for but if you respect the power its the perfect balance of power and weight. If i wasnt as big of a guy as i am (6'5") it would be the bike i would get.
Dont waste your money on a 250CC street bike/sport bike. pick up a 600cc F4i or R6. F41 is the bike of choice for many beginning stunters and starters because of the low price and how easy they are to ride.

250cc is enough, so any ninja 250 is perfect. 600 is horrible for a beginner bike. Starting off small will be rewarding exponentially as you go bigger. But since you're coming from a harley, I don't think you'll need a beginner. With that said, 600 f4i are really good.
I've tracked both my ninja 250 and gsx-r 600, and both are race prepped. Hands down, the ninja is a whole lot more fun.

I have a few people i know who spent the money on a 250CC beginner bike. Only one person was glad they bought the 250cc (SHE) the others felt they wasted money and that a 600 would have been better. ESP for someone who is coming from a Harley or Dirtbike background or both.
My first streetbike was an 01 R1 with a stage 2 jetting, full exhaust, and a tune. thing was a rocket and powerful as all heck, but i didnt rush to find that out. I respected the bike and still respect any bike i get on. even if you feel you have mastered your bike it can still get out from under you. Like on Dirtbikes, Know your own limits and your bikes limits and dont over do either.

If I have the time and patience to maintain a two stroke, I'd get this:
Peter Lenz on a 150cc.
Follow 10yr roadracer Peter Lenz at the Streets of Willow - YouTube
For the op, I'd recommend a sv650. A comfortable riding position and a v-twin....

Well I'm not against going bigger! Like I said I come from Harley's and I know that it is a whole different ball game between the two styles. I have looked at the f4i's and every single one seems to just be a problem bike! Can't find on on CL that hasn't been downed multiple times cause as you guys say they are all used for stunt bikes.

+3 SV650 esp if u like how comfortable harleys are... u sit more upright than an f4i or gsxr... vtwin torquey enough and since u ride dirt bikes a 250 might not be enough for ya on the streets. i learned on a 92 gs500 which was a great cheap beginner bike as well. It didn't look as cool as the newer 250s but idgaf about dropping it...
