Bought it knowing it needed some work.. going to remove the engine and do the head gaskets soon. A little background on me, lived i the bay area my whole life, and im a Lexus technician, so this Subaru stuff is a new world to me, haha. Glad to be here.

Needs some basic help... suspension makes some noise, will probably look for some used coilovers. Missing the emblems and STi wing, i want to go back to the OEM look, so ill probably try to find those parts. While i do the head gaskets, ill throw in some ARP head studs, a header, and catless downpipe. The normal stuff, spark plugs, clutch, etc.. while the engine is out, as well as all the gaskets. Probably get it tuned eventually, and then just enjoy it

As stated in your original post that this would be your first turbo car.
If you install new headers and catless DP you wont eventually need a tune, you will need a tune pretty much right away.
As stated above, sounds like you have a pretty clear vision of what you are going to do.
Look forward to build updates along the way!

Thanks for the info! If i were to hold off on putting the down pipe on, would i be alright without tuning for a while with just the headers? Im putting so much money into the car at the moment, another 600+ bucks for an accessport is not gunna happen right away. Im still new, so the info is greatly appreciated.

Looks like we're newbie neighbors! I'm in Fremont as well. Good luck with your build, sounds like you have a good plan. If you ever want to get rid of your stock turboback exhaust, I'll be more than happy to take it off your hands!

I'm in Central Fremont, near Fremont Hub. There's a thread for a WEDs night Subie meetup in South Fremont. I'm planning on attending one soon. You should too once your STI is all up to snuff!
