Hi all I've just brought my first Subaru (2nd owner) which is completely stock and I would love some advice on where to start with upgrades and mods. All information and advice is appreciated. Thanks #truenoob

Drive it. Figure out which parts of it you don't like. Make it better.

This.

Drive other people's cars or just ride along, do the same as above.

Do your homework before springing on part/part(s). Everything's a compromise, see if you can live with what those pros and cons may be.

Cheapest and most effective mod though still remains tightening the nut behind the wheel...

I have a ton of parts for sale that would fit.

I usually say brakes and suspension first, power second...

Thanks all. Brakes and suspension upgrade is definitely where I think I will start. Is this the time to lower the car as well?

My main dislike about the 08 sti is the sound. It's so quite, a scooter sounds like it has more *****/grunt than this car lol.
Does this come under the power category? Exhaust , bov, intake????? I have no idea.

Not a track star, just looking for some strength, reliability and a little street credibility #truenoob

Exhaust is a must. You can grab a catback and get some sound out of it, but for that true rumble, you need a downpipe too, but that requires a tune.
Grab a set of coilovers or spring/strut combo and get the wheel gap fixed, sway bars and end links are great too...

Thanks norcalbro
A little too technical for me but I'm reading and learning lol
With the exhaust system, is there anything else which is a must when you change the exhaust? To compliment it. intake? Or blow off? Or just tune?
Also sway bars and end links purpose?
Sorry lol #truenoob

Sorry lol #truenoob
Catback can be done on it's own. Turboback (downpipe) would benefit from tuning.

Intakes and BOVs aren't really necessary. The stock bits are good for a decent amount of power. They're usually considered pretty ricey mods.

Sway bars reduce the amount of body roll when cornering. Endlinks connect the sway bars to the suspension. Aftermarket sway bars can break the stock endlinks.

Yah that was a troll. I'd say get some good tires and hoon around see what you need. You don't need to mod your car immediately. Drive it stock for an extended period of time and make a list of what you don't like.
