The GT should be powered by the 2.0 liter boxer and will be rear-wheel-drive while the GT-4 receives the 300 hp 2.0 liter boxer from the Impreza Sti with Subaru's four-wheel-drive (including in-wheel electric motors for added power on the wheels).

umm the STI has an 2.5. that reporter did not do his homework

um...I think the reporter is right, since it probably and only in Japan. I think when they state they will be using the 2.0 turbo...I guess they mean the JP ver sti engine...(I think)

There's been lots of talk about this. I just can't see it being a well balanced car unless they find a way to squeeze the engine farther back behind the front axels. However, a RWD turbo 4 is always welcome either way.

I'm a huge fan of Celica's except for the last iteration
I'd say it'd be exciting if this were true.

Sad that the car would all be marketed as Toyota

I admit I'd be very tempted to sell out for a toyota should they give me a subaru powered 2dr, RWD car that weighs around 3,000lb curb, less maybe (please). I'd probably drop my longblock into it (assuming it'd be within reason to fab it to fit in the celica let alone be a drop in setup), and buy an oem longblock for my STi.
