question on underbody of bd, and question on skid plates
okay, so i lowered my 95 legacy sedan (bd) on 1.25" drop kg/mm's. i went over a speed bump at school today and bottomed out... severely. it was a really bad and loud bang. it had never happened before. i got home and looked underneath the car and everything seemed to be intact. exhaust was fine, body seemed to be okay. car runs fine, same as before. one question! i noticed that on the passenger side of the car next to the exhaust but not the strip on the side of the car where the jack spots are there is a fat metal piece of the underbody that is there. it is not there on the driver side. it is on the passenger side only, and it looks like it may have been scraped up a little bit. can anyone tell me what this part is and if i should be worried about it. also, can anyone tell me if they make skid plates or whatever theyre called to protect the exhaust and the underbody. how much are they, where can i get them, and if they have to be custom, is anyone on here into making them?

thanks! i'm going to look into it. is there anything for closer to the front, that's what i'm more concerned about since that seems to be the spot where the most damage is going to occur should i bottom out or scrape. it's really weird since i lowered the car only 1.25" and it doesn't even look that low yet it makes so much of a difference. anyway, yeah i'm looking for something to protect the 2 cats of the exhaust.

drive slow over any bump or holes...
car didn't look lower because of it didn't settle yet... give it around 3-4 weeks and then do the alignment
also hope you are start saving money for new shocks e.g. kyb agx... your factory shocks is about time don't forget it's a 95'

I have the factory skidplates on my 98 OB
So far the only things I have hit were a piece of truck tire tread the size of my leg, on a freeway, and a reflector dish from a streetlight that someone else knocked over.
But I do go off road, so I like having them. They were one of the few options I insisted on when I got the car. I doubt whether they offer much protection for the exhaust, but I could be wrong.
BTW you can see if an OB has the plates when you look at its rear end; you'll either see the diff, or see a box.
