So I took out the window controls had tested that by putting in a new unit and still the driver side window will not roll up or down.
I am now thinking its a bad motor or ground. The only issue is I'm not the greatest when it comes to electrical so I was hoping to find some guidance. I mean, I know enough to get myself in trouble but not enough to get myself out of it lol.
Has anyone had to replace a window motor or had to check to see if it was even getting current? I'd appreciate any info or help in this area.
I must step out for work but will be back in a few hours so this is the reason i may not reply right away.
All I know is that the mechanical system is VERY fragile. A bolt worked loose on mine and the lift mechanism dropped, tearing the mounting points in the door. Kevin at AHQ fixed it and it works pretty well, but I guess the ideal fix is to replace the door - not the best design from Subaru.
My warning would be: If you hear the motor running but struggling, switch off and don't touch the power until the mechanical stuff has been looked at.
Nothing rattling in the door or anything of that sort.
Just the click of the switch and nothing happens. I just got off shift and if I am not too exhausted I will take the door panel off and look at it. Ill come back and post my findings
