^yah I was thinking of running rotella since I've been reading nothing but good things about it for our engines....also remember reading a few mentioning about how much louder their motor was....
U think a higher weight oil will benefit me since my motor is stock, daily driven 45-50 min to work and back and this is all highway driving no stop and go traffic?? My main concern was the 30 weight shearing down since my trip to work is fairly long especially with the turbo probably running at a high heat...I figured the 40 would provide more protection with higher temps

Car Info: STi (cornering, accelerating and braking hard).
I'll share my experiences. I have used Amsoil XL 5W-30 for most of my cars life. It's an 04 STi with about 52k miles. I live in upcountry Maui so my commute is roughly 50 miles roundtrip, but the drive home climbs to about 3,600 ft above sea-level. I drive roughly 40 45 minutes one way.
I have had good experiences with Amsoil. My car does not consume any oil between oil changes and the oil temps rarely exceed 220 degrees on the hottest day and usually stay just above 200.

I have a 2005 STI, Currently at 140K I have tried Valvoline, Mobil 1, Mobil 1 EP as well as Amsoil Signuture series 5W-30's. Vavoline was buy far the worst for burning --Burned almost a quart every 1K. Mobil 1 EP and Amsoil burned were best only burning about a 1/2 Quart between changes/ every 3K

^yah I've been doing a lot of research but I wanted to see what the guys here in Hawaii use because climate and weather differ from the mainland and what works for them their might not work for us especially with the elevation here on the big island.....warranty?? I'd rather be on the safe side but on the other hand I'd like to use an oil that will provide longevity and better protection for my motor even if I had to run a 40 grade oil....the only thing that im concerned with rotella is because its made dor diesels an ive read that some of the chemicals cause the catalytic converter to become less effecient....tried RP but I dont like it...
