Manual transmission swap. Opinions and what not? Need help!

Hello, I want to start a project which is changing my 4EAT to a manual ones. Did anybody here in the forum that already has done it? For starters, will I need a lot of parts for manual swap? How much would it cost all in all?

yes i've done mine.

on the 4EAT you have MORE sensor and components than the 5MT or 6MT equivalent.

Cost depends on what you're installing.

you cannot use your R160 rear end from your impreza since it has a different final drive ration.

you will need to source a 5MT or 6MT trans and their axles (not interchangeable).
you will need a 5MT drive shaft if you decided to do 5MT. If you did a 6MT you can use your 4EAT drive shaft due to length.

you will need pull apart the entire dash and swap gauge clusters. ABS computers attached to the pump is different part number. You can use the 4EAT one on a 5MT car. ECU is different. Extra pin on the 4EAT vs 5MT. I believe you can use it but I believe the 2004+ ECU do NOT have both 4EAT and 5MT maps on it.

4EAT engine has a different timing cover than the 5MT version can be matted to a 5MT or 6MT no problem. you will need a pedal set, clutch master, slave and all manual components. there are areas on the chassis for this.

have fun.
