GT3076R Turbo Install
Hey guys,
Been getting a lot of PMs regarding my install so I figured that I'd just go ahead and make a thread that covers some of those questions.
First of all, the install was a clean job. Installed the GT30 turbo, spark plugs, turbo inlet hose, TGV deletes, external wastegate, dump tube, fuel pump, fuel injectors, and intercooler. Total install time was about a day's worth of work.
Some tips:
-(shared from another i-club member Cage) make sure u give yourself enough time to install all the bolt-ons because there will always be something unexpected that will come up like nuts/bolts/flanges/gaskets not fitting.
-have oil and coolant on hand as it is more than likely that there will be a loss/leakage of either of the two fluids during installation.
-read all the fine prints as to what flanges and/or adapters are necessary to mate each part. I purchased a 38mm wastegate for a 44mm outlet on the turbo and we had to buy an additional adapter flange and weld it (steel-to-steel) to the wastegate.
-buy the right oil line restrictor as the oil pressure on mine created a fat leak. lucky thing I was approaching 3000 miles and needed an oil change already.
-have a base map from your tuner so that the car is driveable prior to your tune (unless you wanna tow your car lol)
As stated, the total install time was about a days worth of work. However, the welding postponed it for a week since my welder could only work on saturdays. this could have been alleviated had I purchased a correctly flanged outlet. Took her for a test drive and WOOOOOOW did not expect that much gains, especially on a conservative base map. its like getting propelled through an airplane and the sound of the waste opening up sounds equally as loud lol.
If any of you guys have additional questions, let me know. I'm no expert myself but I learned a lot about my car in the process. If you guys have yet to install your turbos before AMS tune (procrastinators!!) lmk and I'll see if my team and I can help.

I see that you went with the TMIC VS FMIC, any particular reason? What made u choose it over fmic? Also do you know anyone or any shop that tunes STI's on the big island?
Planning on going bigger turbo one day but can't getting a tune is holdin me back cuz I don't know anyone here that does it....

Exactly, this is on point. No point in going fmic if I'm not gonna be breaking far into the 4s. Will go with the best balance between performance and safety of my block. In the future, should I blow my block *fingers crosses*, I will rebuild and go with a fmic and push the turbo to its absolute limit lol. As for shops on BIg Island, the real issue is that at best you can get a street tune as I don't believe there are any all wheel drive dynos located on that island. Don't quote me on that, though, but what you can do is get an e-tune. I know I spoke to Aaron (k1ngwrx) about his etune where the tuner will basically give you a base map to datalog off of and you send him your data after about 250-500 miles, where he will edit parameters and send you out a second map. You'll repeat the process once more to ensure that your car is running optimally and additional changes will be made if necessary. The tuner was well known and I believe Aaron said his name was Eric or something. Maybe Aaron can chime in if he sees this (deployed in Europe). Hope that helps, as it would be the best option in my opinion
