Official N/A exhaust thread
Just starting a new thread so people can see what everyone thinks of exhaust before having to search are start a new thread. I'm hoping to get you guys to post what you have, where you got it, what you paid, how it sounds, how you think it does powerwise, and any other pertinant info you have for it. If someone else posted about the exhaust you have first, try to limit your comments to anything you disagree on or was left out. This is also a good place to recommend installers and custom shops as well as pre-fab exhausts. Thanks in advance fellas.

so far i've only installed some borla headers. (halfway there for the cat-back) they were bought through sean at www.ralitek.com for $295
there was a definate improvement in low end torque and gave back the grunt that was there before the short ram intake.
the sound is beautiful even without the rest of the system done. i get compliments on the rumble regularly
it is a great header for those who plan on going turbo in the future but, i would recomend it for that purpose only if you're impatient like me and want power now (and plan to put a turbo together piece by piece). otherwise wait and buy a turbo specific header.

I drive a 2002 2.5rs
have a scoobysport axleback (intended for wrx) modified. this was apprx 500 dollars from metric subaru on long island
custom midpipe 2.25 inches from the cat back with no resonators. made at minekee. apprx 80 dollars
the sound is great... of course! rally goodness. not too loud at all but very bassy at low rpms. nice gurgles during engine breaking and a plesant growl durin acceleration.
i definately noticed gains with the setup. power delivery seems smoothed out and also comes on slightly harder above 4000.
i did not loose any low end torque. in fact i feel like i gained some.
pm me if you have any questions.

Ive got a 00 Rs. I had the original exhaust cut from the cat back and fabricated with 2 1/2 inch pipe. I removed the resonator and added a revolution titanium muffler as well. The plumbing ran me 180 and the muffler I got online for 225 , it originally lists for 350. As far as its tone it is great. It has alot of bass. I ve been complimented that from a distance the car sounds like a Porsche. One downfall when removing the resonator though is that while crusing at highway speeds unless you have a powerful stereo the exhaust tone can get somewhat annoying. The motor really sings up to 4000 them pulls even harder like a vtec set up on a honda until you hit 5500. I had the car dyno tested and the torque went up by 9lbs, my horsepower went up by 13hp. So it is not a waste to fabricate your own exhaust. I got mine done by a friend at meineke. My only note to somone that goes this route that make sure that the muffler you choose is a quality one and that it comes with a silencer if the outlist is bigger than 2 1/2 inches. Before my titanium muffler I went with meineke stuff and I had replaced three mufflers in 13 months at their expense. The mufflers they offer cannot handle the exhaust temperatures at full throttle that the 2.5 exhales. It burns the inner packing in the muffler and three to four months later the baffles will rattle in the muffler and your can will sould like a heap not a well tuned machine. Hope this helps.

just put on the borla catback. amazing boxer sound. looks nice, only problem is it seems like it wants to fall off the last right hand side hanger on the muffler itself. how did everyone else solve this?

for sure 93-96, not sure about 97 and up Subary Impreza L GC8, the WRX STOCK exhaust will not fit our cars, it's too short, i tried and it's laying in the garage at this moment, gotta take it to the shop and let them bend it a little, make it longer, it's about 2-3 short, anyways, just a heads up, i dunno about WRX aftermarket exhausts but for sure the STOCK exhaust will not fit DIRECTLY! again a heads up.
not sure about the 2.5rs if anyone tired, please post. help us fellow suby owners out.

first, i fixed it with a piece of wire on the hanger on the muffler going to the rubber hanger on the car. then i got two small hose clamps and clamped them around the ends of the hangers on the muffler. this works very nicely so far
