That sounds like fuel. Did you make sure you hooked the fuel lines up correctly to the intake manifold from the fuel filter.
After you try to crank it a few times have you hooked up your OBD2 scanner to read what CEL's are triggered if any?
Also, I cant tell from your picture but did you connect the vacuum tube that runs from in front of your passenger strut tower to the T connection that connects the purge valve (I think that is what it is called) to the intake manifold.
It is just above the grey and brown wiring harness connectors and is not connected in this photo:

It sounds like the starter is cranking it (turning over) to me and almost started 0:10 into your video.
Sounded like it didnt have enough fuel to keep it going after it stumbled.
You are saying that if you try to crank it, it will give a good crank and then stop cranking even with the key still on Start?
If so then I would be looking at a new battery too... but that doesnt make sense if it doesnt continue to crank with it being hooked up with jumpers.
I guess it could be time to rebuild your starter or get a new one... how many miles on it?

batt tested dead. cahrging it today as well as buying a new one. can you post a pic of your fuel lines to the the rails under the intake manifold? everyone keeps telling i may have switched them. but im pretty sure i marked them before removal so i wouldnt swithc them up on install.

sweet. thank. ya my fuel lines are routed the same way. so im ruling out fuel delivery and internal binding. last night i pulled plugs and spun crank pulley and she spun with ease.
Now im looking at a dead battery, starter, or any of the of the wiring in between. the fact that it just sits there and tries to turn over leads me to believe its batt or starter. i confirmed my starter wiring was correct. signal wire attached (maybe clogged with gunk, not allowing ecu or NSS to read?) positive lead attached, and negative cable attached to tiny bracket used with bolt to hold starter and tranny/engine together. in terms of wiring, at this point it could only be defective cables that need replacing. other than that its deff starter or battery. plugs and plug wires are brand new. header reeks of fuel so i know im getting it

update! shes back and running again! had a fuel and air assist hose swapped and was dumping fuel into intake manifold. now shes back and running. one vacuum leak, IACV code, and valve adjustment are needed. but other than that, ive slowly been breaking her in. going to fix vac leak and pick up new IACV and gasket today or tomm. valve adj wed before VaJAYJAY!
new "update" oil separator bolts and new rear main seal that install incorrectly the first time (all the way in!)
tranny dropped for rear main R+R
Great day to be breaking her in!
Also had the time to install Avic D3 headunit! gotta inf the harness but then i also may install BT and NAV maybe hmm..
THnaks for all the help, especially HarryManeuvers! its been a great project!

thanks bro! ya got new IACV, purge control, speedo sensor and shes running even better! still a tad high idle and valve adjustment. other than that, brake rebuild (going to be usingf ur DIY thread), then tranny/diffs rebuild, THEN 2012 quad tip install, THEN 08 STi steering wheel install, THEN karlton fender flares....sigh. #subaruproblems. LOL
