Looking to Buy

I currently have a 2007 F150 I was building to be a show truck. It's getting expensive drivin it to school (almost 100 miles round trip) every day. So I've decided to let it go. I have my mind set on either an STi or a newer model WRX. I almost bought a 07 STi but bought the truck instead. Not making the same mistake!

But anyways, down to the chase! The one I'm looking at has 133k miles on it. Should I be scared of that? What are some things I should look out for, or know about a 2005 STi?

It has an ACT street clutch and flywheel, Cusco turbo heat shield, Mishimoto aluminum dual core radiator with a lifetime warranty, TurboXS turbo back 3in exhaust, APS BOV, Tein super street adjustable coil overs, APS CAI, and a COBB lightweight pulley. It's relatively stock and I won't do to much more to it.

Should I still consider it, or walk away? I'm for the most part new to Subaru's

That's too many miles. I would keep it as far under 100k as possible.

The timing belt has already been replaced. Not sure about the tensioner.

Here is the link to the sale

Sorry if the link doesn't work. I'm trying to post this from my iPhone.

If you say so. Any car can get that many miles if you're willing to endure all the repairs it will take to get there. I've never heard of a Subaru making it that far without severe repairs, much less a turbo Subaru. N/A Subarus last forever, turbo Subarus get used and abused and typically start falling apart around 100k miles. A huge portion of them won't hit 150k on the original motor. A high mileage, modifed STI is not going to be the pinnacle of reliability.

Depends on how the car was driven. One of the major areas (suspension) has already been changed, but keep in mind that Tein coilovers have a 40k mile rebuild interval. I would expect some of the bushings to be dry rotting and in need of replacement. Nickle and dime stuff here and there. If you're keeping it for the long haul you may end up rebuilding the engine at some point as well. Again, it defers back to how the car was treated.

That's true some of them may not but those people probably didn't maintain their cars let alone know how to drive them in the first place. Look man it comes to this if this subie is going to be a hobby of yours. Then settle in find a good mechanic and enjoy it I have an 06 which is the best year body style I think hands-down what's bearings and Pistons and Rod big deal . I'll tell you one thing with 95,000 miles on my 06 there's not a leaky seal on the entire car. I'll be keeping and upgrading this for quite sometime if you're not flat broke and don't let people scare you man Subarus are great running motors I've called world-renowned mechanics with questions and they're like Subarus don't break what's the problem? Take the advice as you wanted you'll get what you put into it. It's not like these are very complex motors what's a motor rebuild every once in a blue moon **** that just gives you chances to do more cool stuff also check out doing things like reliability modification oil pick up tube is definitely the first thing I would do. Then think about an accumulator ,oil cooler.

By the way all that being said I'm not saying you won't have to work on your car but would you rather work on some piece of crap or something freaking awesome

Wave 12,500 in front of his face in cash or 13 if he's begging and that's a good deal. It really is I'd buy that and put another 10 into it floss that lol

I'd like to save about 4k for mods and I'm getting 20k for my truck. I'm gonna get him talked down as much as possible. There's already a few things I have in mind. One possibly being, opening up the motor and checking it out.
