uh oh... time for hybrid?

Car overheated last night, pulled over and the coolant was very low and the oil level had risen by 2-3 inches. I doubt I have a oil rig in my engine bay so I'd guess it's filled up on coolant.

I'm thinking that after I confirm a head gasket failure I'll pull the motor, remove the heads and bring them to pic to have them mated up with this

Aside from the short block what other expenses can I add into this build up? I'm trying to stay reliable.

I would think about how much power you want to make and how much you plan to reuse and go from there. All the small stuff adds up fast. Heres some stuff that I added into my hybrid build that isnt included in a shortblock ...

-turbo
-clutch/flywheel resurface
-arp head studs
-valve buckets, seals, retainers
-water pump
-oil pump, pickup, pan, baffle, stick
-belts, pulleys/tensioners
-coolant,oil
-spark plugs
-gaskets
-machine work on heads (5 angle valve job, resurfacing, combustion chamber matching)
-dyno tune

And then you gotta factor in the labor costs depending on how much you do yourself. (install, uninstall, setting valves...etc)

Thanks for the input guys. I must have been seeing things in the dark when it happened because I checked the oil yesterday and it was the normal level. Pulled the wind tray off and immediately noticed the lower rad hose was popped off.

Ordered a thermostat and new rad hoses. Hoping internals are good and nothing warped when overheated.

Still planning a hybrid around tax refund time if it works out.
