Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

Need some advice...

Started my car today and heard a loud nosie coming from the engine bay on the front driverside area, lasted for about 30 seconds then went away. A little worried I drove it for maybe ten miles rounds trip. As I was driving I could here a light whislting from the same area while I was in the car. All gauges were fine, temp good, no check engine light, and the car drove great.

Im thinking my water pump may be going out soon, but im not 100% sure. has anyone else had this problem?

The car is a 2003 wrx with 111,xxx miles...runs like a champ. Would do a sreach but at work, just wanted to post real fast.

I don't know. I guess Gates pulley was faulty.

Hell yeah it did, timing belt skipped 4 teeth, it resulted in slightly bending 4 exhaust valves. had to pull the engine out and take it apart.

Don't. Use OEM water pump. You can use the Gates belt.

Why not? Thought OEM was the best? What other options do I have?
