Misfire CEL

I am not a complete noob but I have changed plugs, cleaned maf sensor, checked wire. I find it hard to believe three coil packs are all bad at once. I have full exhaust, sti injectors, sti block, sr40 turbo the wrx top end. Cobb stage 2 tune. My cel only comes on between 2-3k rpm. It does not do it right away either it's came on between 5 miles and up to 50 miles after I reset. I thought maybe bad gas since the car hadn't been driven for 4 months but I'm kind if lost. If it was the coil packs I would figure it would come on right away not only between that rpm range.

Any ideas? Ask me for more info if you need it.

Ok I have a few questions.

#1 The way I read this you have a hybrid is this correct?

#2 The way I read this you have a hybrid with an aftermarket turbo is this correct?

#3 The way I read this you have a hybrid with an aftermarket turbo and a COBB stage 2 tune is this correct?

If #1,2,and 3 are correct that would lead me to wonder if you have always had this problem since putting motor in or did it just start?

My recommendation is take it to a reputable tuner and get ready to open a huge can of worms. I am going to guess you are not tuned properly for the modifications you have.

a misfire in a given range does seem like a iffy tune. and the fact taht uve checked/changed all ignition components. it could also be poor wires. on the way to subiefest, i had a #1 misfire but only under 1.5k. on the hwy it was completely fine. seemed like at low RPM spark had a tough time jumping. but when RPM increased more sparks seemed to make that connection. GL!

The issue is now completely random. It comes on whenever. But I'm never in boost. Yes it's the hybrid swap, yes it's an aftermarket turbo. It was tuned by Chris black from ams who is definitely a reputable tuner. I did notice that I am 1/4 times my light comes on I have a bank 1 low code. Possibly my o2 sensor is bad. Miles is around 13k on the motor.

So many possibilities. from vaccum leak, going bad O2 sensor, goin bad crank position sensor.

My hybrid throws misfire codes every so often as well. Could be hot spotting causing minor detonation.

Are you feeling any missfires?

its different for me, but i have a coil pack and wires and pack was bad. CKP and CMP deff would cause these symptoms as well. front O2 sensor, im thinking not so much. def sounds like and ignition problem. i highly doubt it, but bad ECU? for now, my case rests on intermittent faulty Crank or Cam POS. you got a DVOM?

Who is tuning your car? do they have any input?

I see in another thread you are looking for larger injectors for your next tune which is why I am asking.

DVOM=Digital Volt Ohm Meter

usually, a consistent misfire (feels like misfiring while driving) will have a blinking CEL at which point dont drive!
if ur ECU flagged a misfire detected code, doesnt mean itll feel like its misfiring when driving but a misfire had been detected sometime in the past few driving cycles

raises more questions. but a usually consistent misfire would be plugs, wires, etc. but now im thinking it might be something more? GL!
