Hi so i went on a little drive the other day everything was running great turbo was producing boost and spooling good and motor was running strong. i get back to my house and when i park i see white smoke coming from my hood scoop. so i pop the hood and see some white smoke coming from the downpipe area. any ideas of what could be going on? Maybe its nothing but im new to the subaru world so i just want to make sure. Thanks!

Check the axel boot on that side of the car, see if any grease is getting splatted up on the DP. While you're under there, check the steering rack boot too.

Alternatively, that could be oil from blow by burning off. For the possibility of this and general best practice, I'd check all your vac lines, PCV valve, general leaks on and around the engine. Check the breather hard line on the intercooler - is there white "cholesterol" crap in there? That's your blow by.

Combating that is a subject in itself. Some sweap by catch cans and/or air oil seperators, you'll have to read up on them and decide if they're right for you.

I just replaced the cv axles but I checked them just in case and they were fine. But yes I will check all my hoses and everything and just go from there. Thank you very much!

Passenger side valve cover gaskets go about this age (drip onto Up pipe = smokey)...ask me how I know :unamused:

Also, power steering fluid lines run near there and can leak / smoke. What did it smell like?

No prob. In general like oaklandish said, there's various fluids that can hit hot parts anda makea smokea.

Some brake cleaner and a rag with clear away things to see if leaks are present/ongoing. More involved solution is to steam clean your engine bay, which has aesthetic and ease-of-working benefits, but is entirely option and might be overkill for your situation. I personally want to do it once my car's running again.
