Unhappy knocking, because of the uppipe?

just put on my helix uppipe. car sounds great! but it started to detonate around 5000 rpm(w/ full tank of gas). it even threw me a flashing chech engine lite! but it went away. i already had the helix down pipe, cai and greddy evo and worked great before. never heard of anybody getting knocking from bolt on exhaust parts.
makes me worry!

Do you have any cats left on the vehicle? If not, your check engine light is probably due to the 2nd O2 sensor sensing that the catalysts are performing below par. Also with an uppipe install it is neccessary to install a resistor that fools the ecu into thinking that the temperature within the uppipe is in the proper range. In the first case, you can drive the vehicle with no issues. In the second, the ecu will probably go into safe mode, causing a drop in performance.

its definitely not the first case, forgot to tell u, i got a cel fix for the second o2.sorri. i dont think its the second case ether, im sure it was detonation, although i would like to learn how to take care off the temp sensor. i think i will take off the cai and see, that might be the problem.

I think that the cai is your problem. It is never a good idea to use a cia in a wrx. If you look around on this board you will see numerous posts which dismiss cia's and go into some in depth discussions about the possible negative reprecusions of using them. It essentially comes down to it leaning out the engine and causing detnoation. I would ditch the cia right away and Id be willing to bet youll be alright. Good luck.
