I've got a Borla Catback exhaust, and I was wondering about downpipe fitment issues. The Borla is kind of flared on the end that attaches to the midpipe cat. I was wondering, are there any downpipes that replace both cats that the Borla will attach too? Will I have to just replace the 2nd cat and keep the midpipe? I really want the Helix downpipe, but I'm worried about fitment. Any help would be very appreciated.
Thank you.
I dont think the Helix will fit perfectly w/ your Borla. The Borla uses a donut flange and the Helix uses a flat flange. I just installed a Helix down pipe on to my car which still has the stock cat-back. The stocker uses the same flange as the Borla. I tightened the bolts pretty tight but there is a very small leak where the two meet. Im pretty sure you will run into the same problem w/ your Borla. one solution would be to get a flat flange welded on to your Borla cat-back at a muffler shop.
heres a link to a thread that discussed the topic Helix DP onto a Borla hush cat back -- fitment?
BTW, the Helix DP is pretty sweet. im really happy w/ it.
I think the PDE Downpipe would work with the Borla. It has a donut type interface for use with the stock cat back.
FWIW I have the Borla Hush and will be using a HKS Downpipe which has a flat flange (like many other dps). All you need is a 3" 2-bolt flange and a short piece of 3" pipe to replace the flange portion of the Borla Hush. Any local exhaust shop would be able to weld up this new adapter to fit.
