RPS - SpeedSport Carbon-Carbon Single & Dual Clutch

After researching and thinking about my replacement clutch for 08 Spec B, I've decided that I will be going with this:

http://www.speedsportclutches.com/pages/STisingle.html

I really hope it is going to be a better clutch than the Exedy Twin FM022HD that I was contemplating.

I decided that I am willing to go with the "stupid" choice that has been labeled by a certain old-timer, know-it-all, on the other ripoff I-club forum.

Wish me luck on my stupid decision, or not.

Move along, there is nothing else to see here.

Hey dude, trying something thats not common isnt stupid. You have been doing your research... im sure it will "work" fine... the question is how comfortable will it be for daily driving...

Keep us all posted. That would be good info to have on the boards in case anyone else might wanna give it a shot.

Thanks, norcalbro.

I just placed the order today for the clutch, and if it arrives by the end of the week, hope to be doing the replacement this weekend.

As far as driving it daily, I inquired with a place that sells the same clutch (Good Win Racing) for Miata, Mazda 3 and 6 cars (Mazdaspeed). Here was the reply I got and my inquiry:

to me
Daily driven by hundreds of customers these days....still no customers needing replacement. Original still in my autocross Miata getting nearly 300hp of abuse every weekend.

I don't own a Miata, but I have several friends that do and they also use their cars for mostly daily driving, as well as the occasional track/auto-x events. Do you have any long term usage data from the SpeedSport Clutch that has been in use here, is it still going strong? Has it been inspected or no need to because it's driving great? Do you think this clutch can be daily driven without any concerns?

The clutch arrived on May 20th, about a month and a half wait. It was 1200 from MVP Motorsports. This is the lightened steel flywheel clutch, there is also an aluminum FW option. I installed the clutch on Saturday, May 24th at 68180 miles and need to do a 500 mile break-in. It has a slightly firmer pedal feel like any new HD clutch cover probably will have. Initial driving impression is it seems to feel like a stock clutch engagement wise with a little more firm pedal. No shudder or jerk on take off and seems to slip fine not on-off like a puck clutch.
