and the reason why he's doing it is because he needs a back up for the shop's mirage that's being converted to a EVO 5 to be rally prepped.

Those were released as model year 2001 and 2002. Or, MY01 and MY02.

MY01 STi's are properly called GDB-A or GDB revision A.
MY02 STi's are properly called GDB-B or GDB revision B.

Both of those had regular turbos (non-twin scroll).

Spec C was not offered in MY01 and was offered in MY02 as STi Type RA Spec C, STi Limited and STi S202. While the last two were not called Spec C, they had same Spec C motor. There were few differences like ECU's, accessories and turbo's. Those are the golden non-twin scroll forged piston Spec C motors.
Also the EURO and OZ spec STi's were released with the same forged pistons mentioned above, the rods look identical, dunno about the crank. Have heard the rumour that the latest MY05 spec C and spec C RA have gone back to forged pistons ..... is this actually true ?

lol, now that's asking for 2 much. and as for jspec, the r33 is a GTS-T type M with a rb26, single turbo, and rwd ... there's only 71 in the us . so it is very different compared to japan. im not even doing it anymore cause of the gas and registration ><

hmm. another question out to imprezer, what motor would you recommend to swap into a 04 wrx. im thinking of the complete swap with motor, ecu, and tranny. im thinking of getting around 280-300 whp after the swap, do you think that can be easily achieved?

I prefer the pre-twin scroll Spec C motors. Get that complete with ECU. 6MT is great, but that is a lot of $ to shell out at once.

Also, another great motor is a USDM 2.5L shortblock w/ JDM Spec C heads. That hybrid is very capable of making near 300hp on pump with over 300 ft.lbs of torque.

Would you use the USDM STi wiring harness and wire the avcs in to that or just use the JDM wiring harness?
