You just think you've seen an engine blow up before

What happens when you over-rev a 2500hp 78 litre caterpillar V18 engine?
The remains of a a fully loaded caterpillar 793 mining dump truck weighing 850,000 lbs (!)
The driver pushed it into 1st gear instead of 6th

Probably the worst engine explosion I've ever seen








FYI this is the Cat 793 (ok 797 but same idea)

i believe that big trucks like that, and semi's have a ring / button you press after a certain gear and start all over like if it was first gear but your actually going to the next higher gear....mybe he forgot to press zeeee button?
