Angry wow i got a ticket today... and it isn't a speeding ticket v.stocksti

Well I was stopped at the light and this PO was on the other side of the road and saw my car and decided to make a U-turn. He gets right beside my car and tells me to pop open my hood. So i comply and open up my hood (i do have a K&N short ram intake) so he tells me to pull over at the next gas station. He writes me up for having a loud exhaust.... even though i have the stock STi exhaust... and he says that my tires are bald even thought they aren't..... (i have an 06 for crying out loud). Does the police have the right to look under my hood even though my whole car is stock?

now i have to go to the damn state rep

Yeah it's getting pretty bad, where were you pulled over? I've had my share and even to an extent broadcasted in the news for driving a modified car where all my words were twisted around making the cops look good and in contrast me guilty. I would put the stock air box on and go to the modesto ref then go on from there. You can also fight this in court, but it's going to be the cops words over yours, but I think you got this in the bag.

I would plead not guilty. I do not think he had probable cause to search your vehicle

dont go to the state ref. just yet. wait for the ticket to come in the mail then go to court and plead not guilty. i would take pictures of the car to show it is stock when you go to court. most likely the cop will not show as he knows it's BS and you will get everything dropped, or if he does show then you can explain to the judge you car is stock and he will most likely drop it. better to try to get out of it instead of having to pay for a state ref test when you didn't do anything wrong.

On a stock '06 STi the probable cause comes with it. The wing, the hood scoop, wheels, low-profile tires, window tint. Just plead not guilty, and if you go to the state ref, they're going to be on the floor laughing.

By chance what was the officers name?

I got the same treatment at Blossom Hill and 101.

PS, You can file formal complaints several ways about mistreatment. I'll see if I can find out the sources.

no.. I don't buy it. A cop should not be allowed to use stock features of a car to claim probable cause.

I am sure a judge will see the same thing
