Paul, glad to see everyone looks to be relatively okay.
Honestly, whenever I see people driving like douches in the rain that gives me reason to give even more distance between myself and the car in front of me. When the person behind me is not leaving much distance for themselves to stop I adjust and try to provide a proper stopping distance for myself and the car behind me to safely stop. It may frustrate the person behind me that they want to go around me in which case that is fine as ultimately I prefer not having them directly behind me anyways.

I don't get the whole brake checking thing?
I only see pain coming from that.
BAM they rear end you.
1. What if the driver has no insurance? Then what? Small claims court sucks! I've been there done that.
2. Taking the time off from work to get your car into the shop.
2 1/2. If they do have insurance they probably have something cheap so their insurance only approves after market parts on your car. No OEM without paying a premium out of your pocket.
3. Paying for a loaner until your car gets fixed up.
4. It never feels the same after an accident.
5. Getting a nasty stain on your carfax report.
Pauline,
Hope your family is ok. Sad to see another regacy down. Poor JDM tailights :I

First of all, I'm glad no one was hurt in the accident.
That's why you get uninsured motorist coverage. You don't have to sue anyone. Your insurance company will do that for you.
BTW, I've never had to pay for a loaner car either. That should also covered by insurance.

Glad to see that your family looks to be in decent health! People suck at driving no matter what the weather... but the rain just amplifies it.
Hope there is few hassles with insurance.
