Most ticketed cars (by percent of owners)

1. Subaru WRX – 33.6%

2. Pontiac GTO – 32.7%

3. Scion FR-S – 32.6%

4. Toyota Supra – 30.8%

5. Subaru Tribeca – 29.7%

6. Volkswagen Rabbit – 29.6%

7. Mercury Topaz – 28.8%

8. Scion tC – 28.8%

9. Toyota FJ Cruiser – 28.4%

10. Mazda2 – 28.1%

11. Hyundai Veloster – 28.1%

12. Volkswagen GTI – 28.1%

13. Suzuki Reno – 28.1%

14. Scion xA – 27.8%

15. Pontiac G8 – 27.7%

16. MINI Cooper S Countryman – 27.5%

17. Mitsubishi 3000 GT – 27.4%

18. Saturn Aura – 27.1%

19. Infiniti QX56/QX80 – 27.1%

20. Toyota Prius C – 27.0%
Tribeca? WTF?

But by percentage of owners... That's an interesting statistic. In which case, the top 4 kinda make sense. Those are cars that you buy with the intent to drive the **** out of them.

Here is a more fleshed out article...Speed traps: America's 10 most ticketed cars - CBS News

Insurance.com looked at the vehicle makes and models that were most frequently involved in a moving violation over the past three years, crunching data provided in 557,000 auto insurance quotes. Cars that did not have at least 50 quote requests were excluded, so there's no data on Ferraris or Lamborghinis. However, hundreds of other automobiles made the cut.
Not sure how seriously I take the article with "Mercury Topaz ranked seventh" and was definitely at "17. Mitsubishi 3000 GT – 27.4%". So if they are using "by percent of owners" math...does this mean if they had 60 instances of 3000GTs (there weren't many made and even fewer left), and if 16 got tickets then it made the list? And how did the it or the WRX make the list and not the Evolution?

EDIT: If anything, the article title should be "Most Ticketed Drivers" not Cars...I am sure Accord, Camry and F150 would be in the top 10 via sheer number of vehicles on the road with the latter.

How are Camaro's and Mustang's not on this list? Maybe it just goes into the good old boy mentality where they can run with open headers and never get harassed where we put a fart can on that's quiet and got stopped constantly.

FOUND IT!

"It's not about horsepower," said Des Toups, managing editor of Insurance.com. "The Chevrolet Corvette, Dodge Viper and Nissan GT-R rank well below average for tickets even though they can easily double the highest speed limits. But those cars are also costly, so their buyers tend to be older and take fewer risks."
Des hates Subies!

Have you guys heard of the myth of the red car? Supposedly having a red car will attract more cops than any other color?

The new Mustangs (non GT version) are now 4 bangers and I believe regular Camaros are downsizing in the future as well.

They still have the V6 mustang in the new lineup, they have added the 4 cyl ecoboost and offer it in regular and premium same as the GT but the v6 does not get that same "premium" love.

It is a myth. Cops don't care about your car's, they care about your violation. Cars Most Likely To Get A Ticket - Forbes
