Question about New Smog - OBDII

A few days ago, I took my 2nd car in for a smog. Instead of the sniffer, they just hooked up a computer to the onboard diagnostic. Then boom, passed.

I assume this is new.

For people running ECUtek or a Cobb Accessport, are you rolling in, flashing stock, then letting them hook up to your OBDII port? Or do you leave your tune, and just let them hook up?

How exactly does this work?

I don't have to smog for 4 years, but just curious.

I smogged my older car running no second cat + an AP tune without a CEL and passed no problem

It doesn't care about a tune. As long as you are not throwing a CEL, and have no codes. So long as you pass visual, that is it.

Hell I had my AP cable hooked up, the tech had to unplug it to plug in his cable.

Passed with Cobb Pro-tune. Make sure that you're monitors are ready!
