#13113 AWD Cars Move to ASP Comments
The **** has provided the following revised version of a previously-published proposal (#12415), for member review and comment:
Delete the following lines in ESP:
Eagle Talon Turbo (all) (1989-99)
Mitsubishi Eclipse Turbo (1989-99)
Subaru Impreza WRX (non-STI) (2002-07)
Delete the following line in ASP:
Impreza GT, WRX, WRX STI (2008-13)
Add the following item in ASP:
Eagle and Mitsubishi Eclipse Turbo and Talon Turbo (1989-99)
And change the following line in ASP:
Subaru Impreza WRX STI (2004-07)
to:
Subaru Impreza WRX all incl. STI (2002-14), Legacy turbocharged (2004-2014), Forester XT (2004-2014)
Note: The **** has corrected year issues in the initial proposal as well as expanding the line to allow for greater
update/backdate capability for Subarus.

Benefit: If you upgrade to STi parts in your WRX, you can go ASP instead of SM. (VF39, STi intercooler, 6spd etc)

USDM engines only. So update/backdate means that you can take, really, any part off a car of any line of those years and switch with any other cars of those years.
But that means USDM only. So Hybrid would be okay when swapping heads from a USDM car... but not JDM heads, and certainly not 207, since that's JDM only as well. These outside of USDM parts make the car SM, not ASP.
Of course if the rules for ASP allow the part to be "free", like suspension, then it doesn't matter. But things like turbos, intercoolers, engines, ECMs, heads etc will matter.

Bascially Subaru Impreza WRX (incl. STI) (2002-14), Legacy turbocharged (2004-2014) & Forester XT (2004-2014), starting next year, can swap parts back and forth and be ASP legal.
Cool idea would be if you had an 04 STi, and were uber serious about weight, you could go to WRX brakes which I believe are much lighter and good enough for autox.
or if your car was a TD04 2.0 ESP WRX like Glenspens, you could drop the engine from a STi, no penalty. Or the turbo from a STi, no penalty.
Though the penalty for this is that it moves the 2.0L WRX out of the soft ESP class. Maybe 'Merican cars in that class got tired of getting whooped?
