Although i would imagine you would have to be full throttle going through puddles for prolonged periods of time for it to actually suck up water.
I say this because i used to run a CAI on my old Integra which was literally inches off the ground, with no fender liner, in weather similar / worse than this and never had any issues.

Yeah, i was worried about my AEM intake, but it survived OK, just glad i had these bad boys on the car, extreme summers would've been hell today.
Surface streets weren't much better this morning, Arques was kinda damp
Few Dashcam videos, it finally captured something interesting
237
Central
Arques (no sound for ~45sec due to a work phonecall)

Have had AEM in my last car and the one before. The Civic SI had the CAI literally a few inches off the floor. Currently have AEM in the STI. Have driven with a CAI for years with no problems. It's all about being mindful of surroundings.
Funny - I actually drive that route on Central every day. Sometimes take 85 if I leave late, or 101 -> 237. In training this week near 1st Street/Montague. Maybe a 9-10 mile drive for me, but take nothing but surface streets. 87 is a nightmare with good weather, no way in hell am I dealing with it in this weather.
