The real issue these days is finding ammo.
Define top tier - even noveske and some of the other upper/lower receiver brands that arfcom and calguns users sprout boners over aren't made by them. They're made by JD machine, who also does manufacturing for - surprise - delton and cmmg. There really aren't that many OEMs for the receivers, but Like you said this is probably a range toy and not something that's going to the sandbox.

Things are coming back and normalizing.. Saw a few lowers, and a few complete AR's on the gun stores shelves yesterday. Picked up a couple hundred rounds of some 855.

Noveske and stag lowers and made by CMT last I was aware.

Top tier brands are exactly what the name suggests.. Top tier. Outstanding quality, customer service, and a warranty to back it up. My Daniel Defense demonstrates all 3 of those perfectly. Go shoot out a Delton barrel and try to get them to send you a new one.. Ya right. You pay for quality when it comes to firearms. Period.

I think what he's saying is you pay for the name with some of those lowers, which means you pay for their customer service mainly. AKA, the lower may be manufactured the same, but the company supporting it makes the difference IMO. I'm OK with that too, and WILL pay more for that.

Yeah, some of you guys get it, while others still don't. Del-Ton is a company that's known to cut corners. They don't build rifles for serious use, they build plinkers for the budget minded individual. Period.

I will spend the extra money on a rifle that I know is built properly, with the proper materials and a solid reputation to back it up. Companies like Colt, Daniel Defense, Noveske, etc build quality products that they fully stand behind. Daniel Defense in particular has some of the best customer service in the industry to boot.

Cosmetically, a DPMS might look just like a Colt AR. However, there are many subtle differences that do directly affect how that carbine will perform.

Just watched the rerun of this that was on tonight.

It was good IMO. Interviewed people on both sides of the story, including some of were very pro one sided.

The show left it up to the viewer to decide what they think is the "better choice".

just went to city arms in pacifica yesterday, had 3 lowers. Still at price gouging price but if you want to build one now you can always pick them up. You can also haggle the price im sure. The supply is slowly catching up with the demand.

Not AR, but semi-related because they want to ban it already.

‘World’s first 3-D printable handgun’ under fire

The creator of what's being called the world's first 3-D-printed handgun is coming under fire from lawmakers concerned that anyone with a 3-D printer and an Internet connection will be able to print an untraceable arsenal.

^The documentary on CNBC I watched had the same guy on. He was 3D printing lower receivers.

Guy seems like a total *** and I think it bringing a lot of negative unneeded attention to this.

Just read a second article that someone wrote to test the capability of 3D printing this particular handgun. There's one serious drawback he noted: these handguns are effectively single use and in general should not be considered safe.

It's Not So Easy to 3-D Print a Gun

Another one mentioned: if you don't own a 3D printer, getting one printed will likely cost you more than just buying an actual handgun.

Reeds keeps a set in stock. Beware, you can't use the front one with a gasblock mount... it will melt
