Smile Let the games begin...

https://m.facebook.com/rbmsAutoCare/...ce=46&refid=17

I am going to have to fin my login and password to photobucket for this build!

Anyways, as some of you know, I fell down a slippery slope, and have elected to try to get a 200 mph t shirt with my subie...

After many a talk with Mert at RBMS, with Overbear calling me insane etc etc...and then in the same breathe encouraging me to do it so when I wreck my car and blow up he can have my seats an other spare parts of my car...

...we decided to go for it.

This is going to be quite a fun little build, with a lot of experimentation...all with the goal of hitting 165 mph in the half mile and 200 mph in the mile and a half.

So today, Mert has ripped out the motor. We have amassed a lot of shiny new pieces and have stashed them in a secret location at his shop, that everyone seems to know.

All I know for sure is that the block is being sent out for sleeves, ETS built the fmic, process west intake manifold, iag shiny stuff, kaminari reverse scoop hood, killer b headers going to a rotated set up, more shiny stuff... More shiny stuff...

Yeah... So as it all comes together I will get pics up. And if all goes to plan, our first 1/2 mile test will be oct 25-26...

You going for a motor mean enough to cut the wind, or any body mods as well to hit your goals?

God-friggin-speed at any rate!

+1 for aero! Pizza cutter wheels w/ narrow tires might help. Might need a rear under diffuser as the bumper skin makes a big parachute! I have no experience in the field but that stuff came to mind.

Good luck man!

186mph gearing limited in 2010 on the record run (first lap was 176mph)

Cars gone a bit faster since (193mph) on track, theoretically without stupid things like turns etc with the present gearing the car would be going 204.8mph at 7400rpm it certainly has enough HP to do it these days but it's like pushing a double decker through the air at those speeds.

For the heads; Mert has a guy that knows a guy that knows a guy that robbed a guy.

Inconel and stainless and a lot of porting and port matching and cams and shiny stuff.

I still think it would be a hoot to see that thing blow off a run at the flats. I ain't been out there in...hell almost 20 years, took my first VW out there...things to remember

1)Driving on salt is NOT like anything you have ever driven on. Its why I told the OP to go out there in a car and drive it stock for a few runs, get the feel of it first.

2)A VW, even lowered, stops being a fun ride at 105mph and turns into a scary *****!

So far, my research has found the fastest 4 cyl subie is 165 mph in the half mile and 201.1 in the mile and a half.
They were running just under 650 whp. 225 wide, 19 inch wheels.

No flat bottom plates, stock bumpers, but said they could have squeezed a couple more mph with an air dam.

Their newer car, hasn't posted nearly as good results, but I think it is due to technical problems, they were posting speeds 30 mph slower with an advertised 50 more whp.
