I already had it smogged today so I was hoping to avoid the second trip by doing that. I have an appointment for registering a vessel Thursday, do I need some special appointment or anything for the "inspection"?

How bad were the fees? Registration is the normal 10% (ish) right?
The inspection was free through the DMV.. you just have to wait (per usual) but I don't believe it requires any appointment. You'll just drive up to the inspection line.

As to the registration, I waited to register my car in CA.. so I didn't pay any taxes. I'd have to find the paperwork for the extra fees, but I think I paid $150 tops for a '99.

I drove an IS250 base and lost one ********, then an IS350 F sport and lost the other. Finally after driving the ISF I got them both back along with 2 inches of girth and 3 inches in length.

They're sackless and my stock wagon felt faster, don't do it.

Year or two ago would have jumped all over a '12 or '13 ISF. Today it's sort of between C63 AMG and a 2016 ATS-V. Still prefer hatchbacks so the GLA45 AMG is up there (wish they'd bring an A45 stateside).

Random joy: I received my STI's pink slip in the mail today(!)
Sadness: I already feel a hole burning in my pocket.

I test drove 1st gen IS250 in auto and stick configuration when they first came out. Latter made such a huge difference. I wanted to rock one as DD for a while. Yes, it wouldn't be the fastest thing in straight line (what does it matter in traffic?), but I feel like it would be pretty fun with basic suspension mods. BRZ/FR-S are slower than minivans in straight line, but you don't see their owners loosing ********* over it

i personally dont like them that much. The dash controls and climate controls are annoying, but i like simple interiors

I've never liked touch screen climate controls, my Mom's prius had it and that's basically the same software as this. I *thought* I liked my '13 STI's climate controls the most and I was dreading it in this car but as soon as it became mine and I drove it for 20 minutes I liked the controls. Now I love it and prefer it over the STI's controls.

The interior is amazing and comfortable, the ride is amazing, plus the torque is ****ing insane and I'm still stock. It's a damn rocket ship

I've eaten half a tank since Sunday night, but I have a lead foot because new car and because I actually have power now.

MPG is around 8 (from what I read on forums) when you consistently drive hard. I got high 20's driving back from Arizona at a pretty good pace, but that was a consistent speed. I think high teens / low twenties could be your average commute MPG if that's what you wanted. But, I didn't buy this car to drive like a granny and save gas.

I haven't figured out how to view MPG yet, only tells me how many miles I have until empty.

Bottom line... it's about the same as a modified subaru on average.

Essentially... better highway mileage when keeping it around 70. Worse foot down smash mileage... cuz v8.
