Are you surprised? Look at what happened, Davis dies. Jackson trades for Palmer (that was a lot for Palmer) and they didn't make the playoffs. He goes on to blame the players for the loss to San Diego at home and a playoff spot.
I would expect to be fired too. And then he goes on record to say that the new GM is going to clean house. Real professional...

I am not surprised at all. He had a LOT to do with the team going down the toilet. They made a huge move to get Palmer and it didn't pan out. It probably would have worked just fine had Jackson not fallen in love with the pass and forgotten that Palmer has been sitting on a couch. You have a team that can dominate the run game... even without McFadden and you throw the ball 45 times a game.... no good. What that means is that you have a LOT of 3 and outs. You get a tired defense. You get a lot of points scored on you. The defense isn't half bad if you don't wear them down every week with that kind of game plan.
I'm actually kind of glad they are making this move. Maybe they'll make a move on Gruden. LOL. He seems to understand how to use a QB in balance with a strong RB game. The Raiders have the tools. They have WR's that are going to be better next year than this year. They have the Boss at TE. They have 3 RB/FB's that can easily go for 150 combined yards a game... easily... on EVERYONE. Defense is good and can be made much better in the draft.
You'll have a fight at QB for the first time in a while with 2 guys that can start.
It's a good solid team but with Jackson's system it was NOT going to work. He fell way too much in love with the pass. And he didn't buck up and take the blame when he made mistakes. You can not push blame to the players even if it is there fault.
The team CLEARLY gave up on him towards the end. Even in that deciding game. You could feel it. They just gave up.
Use the drafts for defense. All of them. Period. Leave the offense where it is for right now. No more wasted picks on speedy receivers that can't do isht.
Use all your drafts on defense. Decide what QB you're gonna go with... if they can't play well together trade one for an older proven WR. Someone with hands you can count on for 8 yards. Hell... make a move for Reggie Wayne.
If Bush raises a fuss about being back on the bench you can easily make a move with him for a high draft pick or a really good position player. He proved last year that he can be a 1700 yard back (combined) that can start on a LOT of teams.
I honestly think with the right guy calling the shots the Raiders are a contender again next year. Raiders win that last game, they probably get a playoff win. At this point it's looking like it would have been a better move to save those draft picks and let this season play out (tank) and build for next year behind campbell.
Like most people thought. LOL!

Any GM worth a crap would have got rid of Hue. He wasn't going to take this team anywhere.
Al kept firing coaches because he didn't want a coach, he wanted a puppet who would act every time he pulled the string. The coaching cycle on this team didn't really make a difference, we all know Al was behind the curtain making every decision.
Now that Al has gone, a the team can actually rebuild instead of just cycling in quarterbacks and coaches. This is the first time the team has been able to build itself from the ground up. It's a whole different game in Oakland now. I don't know if it will turn the team into world beaters, but it's a new direction that the team has desperately needed.
Also Hue is a dime dropping dirtbag who brown nosed his way into his own firing.

No comment about the firing of coach Jackson. I like how we put more points this season because of him, but I didn't like how he reacted and mouthed off after the lost to the doltz.

Long story, short version: Al Davis guided the Raiders for the first half of the season. Once old man Al was out of the picture, the team slowly fell apart. Hue Jackson didn't have the ability to rally his players to play clean, efficient football, so they lost.
