What happens to those blown motors at the Subaru dealer? Do they just scrap those STi engines with cracked ringlands and spun rod bearings?
There's some problem with my built motor because it is making clouds of blue smoke at start up and after engine braking down a hill (yeah I know, valve guide seals). So I was thinking why not build another motor and have the machine work done by someone that knows what they are doing. So I need a re-buildable block and heads.

Depends on if it was done under warranty or not. If it was under warranty then Subaru does want the shortblock back sometimes. We have to hold it for a minimum amount of time at which point it must be scrapped.
If it isn't under warranty we usually just scrap 'em. They're trashed anyhow for the most part.

SOA requires that blocks that were replaced under warranty either be sent back or be scrapped? Then the only blocks that they would be willing to part with are ones that blew that weren't covered by warranty?
