Garage door repair

Hey guys, the spring on our garage door broke last week and we haven't had time yet to get someone out here.

Looking to get it done Saturday before 2pm if possible. Located in Union City.

Anyone have a good reputable person who can give some sort of warranty on the work performed?

We'd like to just replace both springs at the same time.

Let me know, thanks!

Cool just called em.

They quoted me $59 to come out and springs would range from $108-175 per spring.

Sounds pretty high for the springs. I've replaced springs on manual garage doors before and they ran around 20 bucks. Not sure if 100+ is standard for electronic garage door springs.

My girlfriends sister just got her entire garage door replaced from an old wooden manual door to an electric operated door. I think she said they paid 500 bucks including installation......thats in salinas so i assume it was a local company there. Ill ask.

Sounds higher than what they charged me, but it was a few years back. Those wound springs are more difficult to replace than the ones that just go on the sides for a straight door. Taking the old one off isn't the problem, getting the new one back on is.

Yea I was watching few youtube vids on how to replace them. Def looks doable but was hoping to avoid doing it myself lol. May end up going the diy route to save a couple hundred bucks.

I called these guys:
Five Star Garage Door Service - Downtown - San Jose, CA | Yelp

They were great. Called early on a Saturday morning, scheduled an appointment and they managed to come the same day to replace that exact spring. Took less than an hour and they lubricated the rest of the door/track.

Garage Door Guys - Willow Glen - San Jose, CA | Yelp

I used him to replace my garage door. Changed from a chain/rotating door to a rollup with an electric side mount motor. I love it, and the guy is a stand up guy. Family business etc. Not some place that just contracts out vendors to do the work.

Yea, whatever you do dont call the craigslist spammers. Some stupid service with random contractors. They may have a local number listed, but they'll ask you "what number did you call us on"
