Ford to release an AWD STI competitor?
#31
uh yeah have you driven a ford before?
Anyway the intelligent fake awd system is a complete joke. Unless they are launching a completely new system at the same time i'd stick with a fwd focus or better yet no ford at all.

Who cares....so did the SRT4 in a straight line.
For this car to be successful Ford will probably have to lose money for many years to build it's reputation and prove it's reliability. I wouldn't be first in line to buy this. Anyways, I really like what Ford has been doing with their Ford Raptor and now this.

It's not even a question of performance with the Subaru WRX/STi anymore, it's build quality. If Subaru decides to use forged instead of cast or finally solve the ringland issue then they can up the ante and raise the HP on its cars to compete with other manufacturers. There are a few of us that remember when you could modify the Wrx/Sti and daily drive the car without having the build the motor.

Yeah, like everyone needs more horsepower. Why not let everyone get a 1:One and start modding from there. I'm sure 1,360 BHP in a car that weighs 1,360kg isn't quite enough for all you internet super studs who routinely drive 10,000WHP cars down the road.

27 various air cooled Vdubs including a 64 notchback, 61 barn door walk thru dual side doors panel van bus, and a 51 split window.
64 Impala on 12" orllies, dual pumps, 4 way dumps, 7 batteries, done in candy brandy purple on gold Dayton wheels.
75 Fiat 128SL (I miss that car, very rare, very fun to toss around in the hills. I crashed it sad end, into a tree)
80 Corvette 1 of 50 sold with a stick shift, red on red exterior/interior, glass t tops. (after 1980, you could not get a stick again tell...89? might have been 88)
70 Nova SS (started life with a mild 350, sold it with a 454ci stroker with a GMC 6-71 blower on it and a dual wet nitrous setup.)
I grew up in a family of car enthusiasts and racers. My cousin raced IHRA sand drags, another cousin ran flat track sprint, and my uncle raced modified class p-51 mustangs (sports class pylon racing). I just kind of have always been around something with a motor all my life.
I don't think any one car is "better" than others, I do have my own personal preferences of course. I do feel that any US made (production) car after 75 is a steaming pile of **** (I MIGHT make an exception for the GT-40, the ZR1, and the CTS-V). I will also echo someone else in the thread and say, it is interesting to see where ford is taking things here in the US. However, they won't get far unless they start paying attention to details like the Asian and European manufactures do. Interior quality, fit and finish, ergonomics, and aesthetics.
OH, and a correction, I don't OWN the 3500, it belongs to my son(LONG STORY), and stays here at my house as he has no room for it at his...so its got 7000 miles on it, I've put 6500 of that on it.

For those who still wonders why Subaru isn't increasing their power and torque on the halo car, the Subaru engineer did technically say that it's still too much power for the chassis to handle reliably.

Subaru also knows that many STI buyers will modify the engine to get more horsepower out of the 2.5-liter boxer. Infante went on to tell me, “This engine also has a legion of followers and tuners, so we feel its tried and tested abilities will be appreciated by STI fans.”
Seriously? Has no one told you the 2.5 is a piece of sh*%? These motors can't handle a reflash and you expect STi buyers to modify a brand new 40k+ car just so it can blow up. Do your self a favor and ask Mitsubishi how to build a performance motor
