That VF39 is really going to run out of breath with the 2.5l and those cams! You better be planning on something bigger

I know you have plans to go bigger... the 18g is just for the break-in!

Haha, I will play with it after I have my break in done. I plan to get a new turbo after the winter. I also have spent a lot of money on my x mas gifts this year so money is kinda tight.

This is exactly why we examine cars before tuning. Here are the 2 blown pistons from this car (sorry for the poor quality pics):

Nice fat cracks on the ringlands... that just won't do .

I really wish I got a shot of the heads before they went to the machine shop. They had some very interesting heavy buildup on the valves.

Thanks

The pistons I can understand the cracks, but I've never seen the cracks on two levels of ring lands. Between the upper and lower compression ring AND between the lower compression ring and the oil scraper rings. That's on both the #2 and #4 cyl pistons.

And the heads were just nasty, the buildup was a good .050" thick.

Looks like everyone is going for cams and valve train as well as a mild port & polish. At least two of these cars are going to be leaving with brand new ATP GT35R bolt-on turbos. Can you say 500whp+?
