EJ205 valve cover gasket kits?
Been overdue for a while now to replace the passenger side valve cover gasket on my motor.
Planning to do the work myself and just want to avoid buying a kit with the wrong parts.
Was looking at these two and it appears they don't come with the same pieces?
Valve Cover Gasket Re-Seal Kit
Subaru OEM Valve Cover Gasket Set EJ205 | FastWRX.com
Any reason I should buy one over the other?
Lmk, just wanna do this once and do it right.

I would go with the kit that includes the bolt grommets. You don't need to replace the halfmoons (unless they're cracked) because you can re-seal sealant.
I'd shop around though, seems a bit overpriced..

Not sure if you bought it yet but you DO need the gromets for the bolts, at the dealer we change the gromets along with the gaskets every time we do valve covers. if you have the half moons then you need to make sure to remove the old half moons and silicone, and to add new silicone to the new half moons and all around the gasket. don't need silicone on gromets

Bought this today from Allied for $30.59
There were a couple other kits I found online for slightly less but wasn't worth it with shipping.
Came with everything I need but doesn't have the breather gasket. Doubt I'll have to replace that but I'll inspect it when I remove it.

Completed the vc job earlier today. Used Permatex 'The Right Stuff' in conjunction with the gaskets, tried to keep it on the light side since I know too much is bad. Didn't replace the half moon seals or breather gasket since they all still looked to be in good shape. Was actually really surprised when I pulled the vc off how extremely clean it was, at least to others I've seen in the how-to threads. Gonna wait 24hrs till I start up the car again and check for leaks.
Also had to disconnect the upper ps line since it was in the way when I removed the vc. Not sure what it was torqued to so I just threw some new copper washers on it and hit it with my friends impact gun.

If you were replacing the Half Moons then you should consider replacing with the LIC Aluminum Cylinder Head Plugs.

I skipped the bolt grommets when I did mine -- for some reason they were like extremely expensive from the dealer. I did all the rest including half moons and breather. SJ subaru was nice enough to give me a little splooge of RTV in a zip lock so I wouldn't have to buy a whole tube (their offer) -- THANKS!
I see you got the grommets but for sake of others I just wanted to mention that you can get away with not replacing those but youll want to clean them profusely and seal it all up with RTV. If the plastic feels hard and brittle you're probably screwed but in my case it was only really the outer ring that was leaking. In an ideal world you'd be able to tell which gaskets were leaking and replace accordingly but my covers were too dirty to tell. On the other hand it's probably a best practice to just do it all -- if some of the plastic is shot the rest is probably close anyway.
Good luck with the repair -- hope it holds!

Thanks, yea I ran the car for about 30 min earlier and let it get up to full operating temp.
No visible leaks / dripping / seeping that I can see so far. Did an oil change at the same time so it all seems to be running smooth now.
The upper ps line did leak at first for 10 seconds or so, I had to shut off the car and retorque it some more and now its leak free.

Just to add -- some will say that replacing one side (generally passenger side goes first) accelerates the failure of the other side. Because of this I bought gaskets for both sides but I have not experienced this so I'm waiting on doing the driver side because don't fix it if it aint broke.
