blew my 5 speed.. now what?

Just wanted some info from people who have been through what im going through right now.. i have a 2002 wrx wagon that has a blown 5 speed tranny.
i knew due time my tranny will blow out any given day and that day was last sunday..

my car felt powerless that day and i just thought it was a power to weight ratio.. figures.. two 6 foot 200+ guys and a full tank i would have thought it was a weight issue.. long story short i did a WOT pull and boom...car dies thought it was my motor since this is my 2nd motor and i know what to expect when you hear metal grinding.. engine sounds healthy. i put it into 1st gear metal noise gets louder and starts jerking real hard.. 1st through 3rd nothing.. 4th and 5th are my only option limping it home.. i read alot about the glass tranny our year has and thought it was just a myth..

anyways im debating wether i get a 5 speed jdm sti 5 speed or a 6 speed tranny... help me decide..

not looking for drama just some friendly advice.

If you can afford it, the 6 speed is a no brainer..

Cheapest solution is taking an 03+ casing with 09+ gears. Paul at fw does this. Unless you want to source a full transmission.

Or..

You can rebuild the 02 with STOCK gears, put on blast plates, just like Moore performance has going and be just fine. Its not a glass transmission, its the way people drive on them that makes them go BOOM.

why stock gears when they have to come out? Why not replace then with newer thicker ones that aren't much more of a cost?

Like intercooler fans?

Btw I thought of that idea later on. It won't work. You're blocking any free airflow with them. Hence why all radiator and oil cooler fans are mounted post core. Not pre.

Depends on the guys funds I suppose. I have never researched the cost of aftermarket gears, so no clue what the cost difference is.

lul wut? you are wrong, I can think of a few right off the top of my head that are all pre (known as a pusher type fan, rather than a puller type fan)

As I said when we were talking about it, the physics and math say It will work, the practical application says it will work (pusher type fan). So I will build it, and we will see, it may work, it may not. That is why its called a prototype.

Kicking around a prototype of a fan system to draw air into the intercooler when the scoop stops (between 40 and 60 depending on car model). Its just a idea, still in the design and fabrication phase.

you wanna do drag racing? One you have the wrong car but you need a jdm 5 speed which will break eventually or a 6 speed from a v7 then.
