Best dealer to buy new Outback
Looking to get an Outback for the fam. Thought getting a 2016 would be cheaper, but it looks like dealers are selling them for the same as a 2017.
Anyone have personal experience at a certain dealer, or know someone who works at one?
I HATE dealerships, and am dreading going to one. Any other alternatives? Thanks!

That's pretty standard for subaru's these days. You can usually get a brand new one for close to the same price if not cheaper than the 1 year old used models.
As for best. No idea. Sometimes it comes down to how much time you have to look and what you're looking for. When we bought my wife's forester there were 2 of them in the entire state.
Santa Cruz has a special one they have built out that has everything blacked out and comes with a nice rack on it. But price wise... my bet is Putnam is gonna be tough to beat.
We bought one at Capitol. It was alright. I didn't care for the finance guy but that's pretty normal. LOL!

Happier with the whole experience at Carlsen (sales and service combined) back in the day, but decided to go with Capitol when it came to wifey's Outback.
If you really dislike the shopping process consider an auto buying service, a la AAA, Costco, and I bet (shameless plug) your local Credit Union could help you get a great deal.

Email the internet sales manager and negotiate through email, once price is agreed go to the dealership. Got our Outback from Capital, in and out in 1.5 hours. I've done this now for the last two new cars, it's great.

I highly suggest getting the pricing figured out before you head in. Generally, you'll get a better price through "Internet" than if you just walk on the lot. I'm not sure how CA prices their units, but up here in OR/WA we are well below invoice for the 2017s and our Internet department offers the lower pricing. Shop around your local dealers. No shame in making them compete!
I wish I could help you out, but unfortunately Subaru will only allow dealers to sell within a 200 mile radius now (some exceptions apply).

You'll have to join the NRA, but this is by far the cheapest way to buy a car

Just saw that there 0% financing on Outbacks until Aug 31st.
We got ours two years ago from Kyle Holt (via internet) from Putnam Burlingame. Got the price set before we went in, since we really really hate dealing with Putnam Burlingame in person.

Depending where you are in the "east bay", I'm in Oakley-Livermore and I consider that "east bay". Head out to Livermore Subaru, one of the best experiences I've had at a car dealership. Downside is they don't have much inventory (I had to order and wait 3 months for the exact STI I wanted), upside is you get exactly what you want haha

Wow. Thanks for all of the feedback! I went with the online pricing, and got a good deal at Fairfield subaru. Thanks again for the help all.
Now, someone buy my WRX! Lol.
